Client Services

We offer legal advice, strategy, and representation in every area of family law.

Divorce & Legal Separation

The decision to divorce is one of the most difficult you will ever have to make. We will help you navigate the three areas of divorce – your children, your property, and your income – by discussing your long-term goals and your process options within the legal system. We focus on educating our clients each step of the way from start to finish so that you can make informed decisions on your path.

Paternity

Having a child outside of the traditional marriage relationship provides different rights and responsibilities to each parent.  It is imperative for you to understand how the statutory rights of a mother differ from the rights of a father.  We can help you establish your legal rights and set a path forward to solidify a healthy parent-child relationship.

Custody, Parenting Time, Third-Party Custody & Grandparent Visitation

Despite changes in your family structure, decisions will need to be made regarding your child’s ongoing education, health care, religion, care providers, and day-to-day activities. Co-parenting can be challenging without a framework for respectful communication and an established process to reach agreements. We help you set these parameters and carry them forward in the hopes of a long-term cohesive co-parenting relationship, because parenting does not stop when your child reaches adulthood.  We also frequently work with individuals seeking custody of a child as a third-party (non-parent) as well as grandparents seeking the legal right to visits with their grandchildren.

Child Support

Child support must be established in both a divorce and a paternity proceeding.  This includes base support, medical and dental support, child care contribution, and analyzing tax credits and exemptions.  We can help you navigate the mathematics of establishing or modifying child support.

Spousal Maintenance

Spousal maintenance is a highly litigated area that requires keen knowledge of caselaw, sharp negotiating skills, and creative solutions. We will advise you on possible outcomes and various options for structuring spousal maintenance payments or lump sum buyout.

Property Division

The laws of division of real estate, retirement accounts, and other assets in a divorce proceeding are layered and complicated. We will help you assert your premarital and non-marital claims to property and work to establish a solid financial estate for your future.

Post-Decree Motions

As relationships, employment, health, and other areas of our lives change, modifications to prior court orders may be necessary. We can help you initiate or respond to court action regarding modification of custody, parenting time, financial support, communication, and other areas to meet your family’s changing needs.

Domestic Abuse Orders for Protection (OFP)

Domestic abuse comes in various forms from gaslighting and triangulation, to physical and sexual abuse. We can help you navigate the process of petitioning the court for an Order for Protection on your behalf or on behalf of your children.

Harassment Restraining Orders (HRO)

You may need legally enforceable protection from frightening or harassing family, neighbors, or other associates.  Harassment Restraining Order differ greatly from Orders for Protection.  It is crucial to understand the difference between them and pursuing the right one for our situation.

Appeals

The outcomes of cases vary depending on many factors. We can help you determine whether the court made an error and your options for rectifying that error.
